Hi, and welcome to my page. I am Pastor Wade
Johnston. I have served Christ since July 18, 2004, when I was ordained
into the public minstry, an event both humbling and exciting. I was
born and raised in Livonia, Michigan by John and Jocelynn Johnston. I
have a brother, Adam, who is a high school science teacher in Columbus,
Ohio. I was raised Roman Catholic (Roman Catholic grade school and
junior high--I was even an altar boy) until I was 18, when I became a
member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church on December 31, 1995 at Peace
Ev. Lutheran Church in Livonia, MI. I am proud to be a Lutheran, and
ever-thankful to God for allowing me to experience the height and
breadth of his grace, mercy, forgiveness, and love, as it is faithfully
preserved, proclaimed, and applied in the confessional churches (those
that still confess the same truth taught in the Lutheran Confessions)
of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
I would never trade the treasure of Word and
Sacrament for anything. What a joy to be unable to wash my face without
remembering my adoption as God's son in Baptism! What a rejuvination to
receive God's gracious gift of His Son's Body and Blood in Holy
Communion, and to know the forgiveness and life it gives! What a
comfort to hear Christ Himself speak God's promise of grace and mercy
to me personally through the mouth of a fellow pastor in a sermon or in
absolution, and to read of His love in the trustworthy and unbreakable
Word of God! That is what being Lutheran has meant to me. I pray this
site helps bring the same joy, strength, and comfort to you.
Below I have included some of my favorite links. I have also included
some things I have written and translated myself. I hope you find it
useful.

Hoenecke Sermons for the
Historic Lectionary NEW and updated often
Each week our German study group, consisting of Prs. Luke Boehringer,
Timothy Kolb, Herb Kuske, and myself have been translating these sermon
notes from Adolph Hoenecke. The sermons are very rough, as we have not
gone back through them yet, but give an idea of how Hoenecke approached
the Gospel and Epistle for each week. Pr. Kuske especially has done a
lot of extra work on these.
